Mid-century Nain silk and wool rug from Central Persia featuring an all-over Shikargah pictorial hunting scene on a cream ground. The design depicts various mounted hunters with bows and spears pursuing gazelles, birds, and feline predators among weeping willows and flowering shrubs. A floral scroll border with palmettes and rosettes frames the central field, executed in a palette of indigo blue, madder red, and tan. A woven inscription in the border cartouche in Persian script reads Iran and the Habibian workshop in Nain. The rug is constructed with a hand-knotted wool pile on a cotton foundation, finished with knotted cotton fringes and a decorative red, blue, and white cord. Dimensions: 42"W x 64"H Weight: 9 lb.
