Italian school, mid-19th century – Portrait of a young girl with roses – oil on canvas Elegant female portrait belonging to the Italian school of the mid-19th century, depicting a young girl wearing a white dress and a small bouquet of roses. The work is distinguished by the delicacy of the expression, the refined rendering of the flesh tones, and the sober compositional setup, typical of 19th-century Italian bourgeois portraiture. The painting is executed in oil on canvas and presents in a gilded wooden frame of 19th-century taste. The execution quality suggests the work of a competent professional portraitist active in northern Italy between the second quarter and the mid-19th century. The frame visible in the photo is included as a courtesy and does not form an integral part of the work. Any damage to the frame will not be a valid reason for complaints or order cancellations. Technique: oil on canvas Epoch: c. 1840–1850 School: Northern Italian Subject: portrait of a young girl with roses Conditions: good overall condition, with natural craquelure and slight signs of wear consistent with the age of the work. Provenance: Italian private collection.
