Italian School (XVI)

Venetian School, late 15th / early 16th Century. In the manner of Vittore Carpaccio (c. 1465–1525) Subject: Angel with Red Robe in ProfileMedium: Technique: Tempera on panel Dimensions: 39.5 x 35.5 cm Provenance: Private collection, Tuscany. A compelling devotional depiction of an angel shown in profile, heavily echoing the stylistic idioms of Vittore Carpaccio. The composition captures the serene, linear elegance typical of the late Quattrocento. The reverse (verso) bears an intriguing early label inscribed 'aldo', suggesting an old Italian provenance that supports an early dating. The overall execution, pigment application, and material characteristics present a strong stylistic case for a production dating to the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, distinguishing it from later historical revivals.
