Italian school (XVIII) - Madonna con il Bambino e il Sacro Cuore

painting dating to the XVIII century; oil on canvas attached to a wooden panel, depicting the Madonna with the Child and the Sacred Heart inside an oval-shaped painted space, enclosed by a dark wooden frame with an carved cornice. The Virgin Mary holds in her hand the blazing Sacred Heart, while the Child Jesus is cradled in her arms, asleep while he grips with his little hand a small cross that is the symbol of the Passion. The work, for its oval composition and devotional setup, reflects Italian sacred painting of late Baroque tradition, attributable to various regional contexts, including Emilian or Roman schools, such as works attributed to painters such as Scipione Azzi or derivations of models from the 17th-18th centuries.
