Goldicutt (John, Architect, Member of The Academy of Saint Luke at Rome), The Antiquities of Sicily, apparently extra-illustrated by the architect-author, first edition, London: Published by John Murray, printed by W. Bulmer and Co., 1819, engraved title-page bound before the etchings by Bartolomeo Pinelli, letterpress: [vi]ff, plates I-XIII and XXVIII-XLI only, yet extra-illustrated with 8 pen-and-ink landscapes on China paper, often with named-views, attributed to Goldicutt by the pastedown manuscript inscription, and with the suggestion that this copy might have been his, contemporaneous cloth over marbled paper card covers, spine with some losses - but holding, upper-cover with lettered and pictorial printed paper label, folio (44 x 35.5cm) Provenance: ?1) John Goldicutt (1793-1842), author, architect and artist; 19th c pencilled attribution and suggestion to pastedown. 2) James Christian Clement Bell (d. 1871), sometime British Consul General in Tuscany and a collector of graphic arts; his and wife's (Jane Strangman Mead) Gothic Revival armorial bookplate.
