Bronze medal with the self-portrait of the Florentine sculptor and architect Francesco da Sangallo, dated 1550. •The medal was created to commemorate the founding of the bell tower of the church of Santa Croce in Florence. •The inscription on the medal reads "SCVLTORE ET ARCHITETTO FIOREN FRANCESCO DA SANGALLO MDL", confirming the artist's identity and the minting date (1550). 145 g 65 mm Italy Florence, Duchy Cosimo I de Medici, 1537-1557, 1557-1569. Duke of Florence and Siena, 1569-1574 Grand Duke of Tuscany Medal minted in bronze or. J.
