Italy - Vedeseta

An extraordinary opportunity for collectors of antique cartography, local historians, hikers, and military memorabilia enthusiasts: a homogeneous lot of 4 official topographic maps from the Military Geographic Institute (IGM) in a 1:25,000 scale. The maps were produced by the IGM (Istituto Geografico Militare) of Florence, the official Italian State agency founded after Italian unification to survey and map the national territory with precision. The IGM is internationally recognized for its technical expertise, contour-accurate altimetry, and the aesthetic value of its topographic surveys, praised for decades as a standard of European cartographic excellence. The lot includes four field-mounted maps, designed to be folded and consulted in operational use without damage: - Barzio: Encompassing Valsassina, the Piani di Bobbio and the surrounding peaks (with highlighted routes). - Oggiono: Detailed color map including Lake Annone, Lake Garlate, Lake Olginate and the Lecco area/Adda River. - Palazzago: Pre-Alpine territory between the Imagna Valley, Monte Marenzo and the Bergamasque hills. - Vedeseta: High-mountain area straddling Val Taleggio and Lecco area. Visually striking objects with understated elegance, perfect both for collecting in their case and for display framed as-is to enhance studies, offices, or design environments. Finding a group as well-preserved and contiguous as these IGM-era maps mounted on canvas represents a real rarity on the market. In addition to their undeniable historical and documentary value, these maps form a splendid interior element for professional offices, homes, or mountain settings. An unmissable opportunity for enthusiasts of local history, vintage hiking, cartography, and exemplary military memorabilia.
