Izumi Ichiago 'Imbuia' Damascus Pocket Knife – An Authentic Masterpiece from Sakai, Japan with a unique Mokume-inlay (as on Samuraizwaarden by Denbei Shoami) An exclusive, classically shaped gentleman’s pocket knife from the renowned brand Izumi Ichiago. This knife blends traditional Japanese forging techniques with a distinctive design and high-quality materials. A special collectible for the enthusiast. Forging: 49-Layer Damascus & VG-10 Core The blade is built around a core of the legendary Japanese VG-10 steel. This steel is famous for its extreme hardness and the fact that it stays razor-sharp for a very long time. This hard core is protected and supported by no fewer than 49 layers of beautifully folded Damascus steel, with stainless steel sides to prevent rust. Exclusive Mokume Design (as on Samuraizwaarden by Denbei Shoami) The metal jaws (the section between the blade and the handle) are made with the rare Mokume technique. This traditional Japanese method was invented in the 17th century by master smith Denbei Shoami. Originally developed to decorate the impact plates and grips of Samurai swords. By fusing multiple layers of metal under extreme heat and pressure, a stunning pattern emerges that closely resembles natural wood grain. Each knife thus gains a completely unique appearance. Design with German Mastery This knife is the result of a unique cross-pollination: it combines the centuries-old Japanese forging tradition from Sakai with refined ergonomic design influences from the well-known German knife designer Ernst Siebeneicher-Hellwig. Thus tradition and modern user comfort beautifully complement each other. Handle of Luxury Imbuia Wood The pocket knife is built on a sturdy basis of solid brass. The grip scales are made from the finest Imbuia wood. This luxury wood has a deep, warm color and a fine grain that beautifully matches the gold-colored wood grain pattern on the metal jaws. Region of Origin: Sakai / Izumi (Osaka, Japan) This pocket knife comes from the Sakai region (historically Izumi). This Japanese region is world-famous and has delivered the very highest quality in handmade knives and swords for more than 600 years. Craftsmanship from this region is renowned for extreme precision and long-lasting durability. - Brand: Izumi Ichiago - Model: Imbuia Damascus Pocket Knife - Condition: Brand new and unused - Origin: Japan (Region: Sakai/Izumi) - Blade material: Japanese VG-10 Damascus steel (49 layers) - Bolster material: Mokume-gane (multilayer metal with wood grain pattern, in the style of samurai swords by Denbei Shoami) - Handle material: Imbuia wood on brass plates Delivered in a leather belt case.
