Forging: 71 Layers of Damascus & VG-10 Core The impressive blade is built around a core of premium Japanese VG-10 steel, globally acclaimed for its extreme hardness and long edge retention. This core is protected by no fewer than 71 layers of Damascus steel, creating a breathtaking, flowing pattern on the blade. Durability and precision come together here in the finest way. Unique Design with Influences from German Mastery This knife is the result of a unique cross-pollination: it combines the ancient Japanese smithing tradition from Sakai with refined, ergonomic design influences from the renowned German knife designer Ernst Siebeneicher-Hellwig. As a result, the knife not only sits beautifully in the display case but is also ergonomically perfectly balanced for everyday use.
