J. Berchoux - La Gastronomie

Exciting edition of this foundational text of French gastronomic literature, in which cuisine, the pleasures of the table, and the art of good eating are elevated to the status of poetic matter - Composed in the form of a didactic and humorous poem, the text seeks to celebrate gastronomy while tracing its origins, its development, and its main representatives, in a characteristic blend of erudition, fantasy, satire, and a taste for earthly pleasures - Berchoux draws inspiration from the tradition of poems devoted to the arts and sciences in order to treat cuisine as a true discipline, possessing its rules, techniques, instruments, masters, and traditions.
