James Cameron - The Abyss - Pair of 2 Original Japanese B2 Movie Posters

A rare matched pair of original Japanese theatrical posters for James Cameron’s science-fiction classic The Abyss. The lot includes both principal Japanese B2 designs: * Style A: the atmospheric helmet close-up composition. * Style B: the rarer photographic montage design featuring the diver and multiple scenes from the film. Both posters retain their original red-and-white local cinema advertising strips attached at the bottom. The Japanese text announces: * “Advance tickets now on sale” * Opening date: 24 March * Kumamoto Orion Theatre — 熊本オリオン座 The identical venue and handwritten opening date make these two posters a particularly interesting matched cinema-used pair. The date corresponds to the film’s first Japanese theatrical release on 24 March 1990. The posters bear a 1989 Twentieth Century Fox copyright, referring to the original production year. The Abyss, directed by James Cameron and starring Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Michael Biehn, won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
