JAPAN. 5 Yen, Year 28 (1895). Osaka Mint. Mutsuhito (Meiji). NGC MS-65. Fr-47; KM-Y-11a; JNDA-01-3a. A RARE date in the series, this only the second we can recall offering in the last 25 years. Especially elusive in this Gem state of preservation, this piece tied with one other example as finest certified by NGC and with a mere two examples certified finer by PCGS. Boasting swirling luster and lovely satiny surfaces that reveal only minor marks upon close inspection, this impressive specimen offers an immense opportunity for the specialist in the series. Estimate: $6,000 - $9,000. Provenance: Ex: Stack's (11/1947) Lot # 1563. Estimate:£2,718.41
