A Japanese Imari hard-paste porcelain basin or centerpiece bowl of six-sided hexagonal form, crafted during the Meiji period. Deeply potted with sloping walls, the interior centers a hexagonal panel painted in underglaze cobalt blue depicting lush blooming peonies and a shishi (guardian lion). The interior facets are densely decorated with alternating panels of mythical dragons and floral landscape cartouches, set against geometric brocade pattern reserves in iron-red enamel, polychrome highlights, and rich gilding.
