Japanese Kokeshi dolls - Doll - Japan

Japanese Kokeshi doll, hand-carved from solid wood and hand-painted. It features a charming, rounded silhouette and the sweet face of a young girl with closed eyes. The head is adorned with a hand-painted red flower, while the body is covered in a red floral pattern; wooden beads serve as accents for the limbs, and it comes with a matching solid wood base. The doll stands approximately 13 cm tall and is in excellent, near-mint condition. The lacquer finish is intact, with no cracks or paint loss, showing only very slight scuffing on the base. A piece of traditional Japanese folk art, this is a Showa-style Kokeshi doll. It is perfect for display on a desk, as an accent for Japanese-style home décor, or as a collectible folk craft; it also makes a unique and thoughtful gift.
