Japanese Performance Uchikake, Showa Period 1960-1980, Japanese Performance Uchikake, Showa Period 1960-1980, in a vibrant red and gold appliquéd with fan motifs and embroidered with large flower heads in silver, green and orange threads, a tiered trim around the edges in purple, yellow and green, appliquéd with purple silk tassel sleeve ornaments, red/gold metallic fuki and lining. The design and construction differs from traditional bridal uchikake, and is more familiar with post-war theatrical costume for Kabuki's, creating striking costumes that would shimmer under the stage lighting.
