Elegant Japanese porcelain tea set consisting of one lidded teapot and two lidded tea cups. The set is richly decorated with birds, flowers and stylised foliage, executed in polychrome enamels with extensive gilt decoration. The black-ground border with gold motifs and the warm gold background create an attractive contrast with the white porcelain body. A red seal mark is present on the underside of both cups and on the inner rim of the teapot. Lot composition 1 lidded teapot 2 lidded tea cups Dimensions Teapot: approximately 17 cm maximum width, including spout and handle; approximately 12 cm high Lidded cups: approximately 10 cm in diameter and 10 cm high each Condition The set is in generally good condition, with light age- and use-related wear to the gilding and decoration. One tea cup has a noticeable chip to the rim, with a loss of porcelain and gilding. This defect is clearly visible in the photographs. No other major damage has been observed on the visible parts of the set. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of this description.
