Two Japanese tea caddies from the Edo/Meiji period, circa 1850–1900. Such caddies were made for the European market to store loose tea. They are decorated with a motif of mandarin ducks in a landscape. On the lid an inscription in Japanese characters. Dimensions: 10.5 x 9.5 cm Dating: 1850–1900, Meiji period Condition: a small chip on the bottom edge of both lids, otherwise good.
