Jean Cocteau - Opium - 1957-1957

Opium by Jean Cocteau, Journal of a Detoxification orange hardcover in cloth and its illustration in the shape of an hourglass. The French Book Club in Paris 'tedition numerotée'. The chronicle of detoxification: Cocteau describes day by day the physical and psychological sufferings of withdrawal. He analyzes his intimate, complex and almost loving relationship with the drug, alternating between lucidity about his dependence and phases of denial or praise of the dreamlike states produced by the substance. Artistic and literary reflections: The stay in the clinic becomes paradoxically a laboratory of creation. Cocteau shares his thoughts on art, poetry, cinema in full swing (Charlie Chaplin, Luis Buñuel) and mentions great intellectual figures who have crossed his life, such as Marcel Proust 14/11.5 cm - 406 g - 291 pages
