Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) - “Self Portrait, 1981”.

Jean-Michel Basquiat: "Self Portrait, 1981". Authorized color offset Litho. Condition: the work is in excellent condition and on thick premium paper of very high quality (300gsm). Copyright Estate of Jean Michel Basquiat. Licensed by Artestar New York. The original Jean-Michel Basquiat's 'Self Portrait', spread across three hinged wooden panels, shows two black silhouettes. The silhouette on the right panel overlaps a page with song titles from Thelonious Monk's 'Blue Note Sessions'. On the left panel, in a square, is repeated the name of the jazz tenor saxophonist Ben Webster. Basquiat incorporated references to jazz musicians in his artwork because he acknowledged that jazz music was also an important form of creative expression.
