Jefferson, Texas. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 626. Commercial NB. Charter

Jefferson, Texas. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 626. Commercial NB. Charter #8770. PCGS Banknote Fine 12. Like many of the pieces attributable to the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, it takes little to reason that this is indeed a rare item for the specialist. Issued by the Commercial National Bank of Jefferson (Charter# 8770) before 1924 based on the presence of an overprinted "S" regional indicator, this exact note is one of only just eight non-institutional pieces recorded on this bank per the National Bank Note Census. Yet noted impairments which bidders may readily notice are hardly part of the overall calculus when it comes to this well-circulated, but honest specimen that stands here as the first example of its issuing bank to be offered since 2023 making this an opportunity that is not to be disregarded or downplayed by the specialist. PCGS Banknote comments "Small Holes, Corner Damage." Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV.
