Jeu de boules sport boules bocce petanque - 1910

4 antique boules (boules cloutées). They are two unique pairs. Plus a rare book in French (new) about the history of the Jeu de Boules, including explanations of the manufacture of antique boules, but also of the current boules. See various pages. The 4 boules are boxwood boules in which hundreds of small nails have been driven. They have been played with, but they are pristine. Two boules with square nails, with a distinctive cloutage, bear two initials in copper: the S and the L. The other two boules bear the initials B and T. The weight of each boule is about 1.2 kg. The full-colour book (24 by 30 cm) has 176 pages and is printed in a waterless offset and weighs 1.4 kg. Total package weight is about 6 kg.
