Janis Joplin & Big Brother Family Dog Avalon Poster San Francisco 1966 This is an original vintage 3rd print poster (approx. 35 x 50 cm) promoting a series of shows featuring Jim Kweskin Jug Band, Big Brother and the Holding Company & Electric Train. These shows took place June 29 , 1967 at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco. This extremely popular image was designed by Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelley, and numbered FD029 in the Family Dog series. Having achieved great success with their poster based on the Zig Zag man cigarette rolling papers, Mouse & Kelley decided to try basing another poster on a different cigarette rolling papers logo, the JOB Woman who had been created in the early 20th century by the famous graphic artist Alphonse Mucha. - The Woman with the Green Hair- A great poster ! The poster has been very carefully preserved, remains in excellent condition & would frame beautifully.
