Unique Swedish composite volume from the 18th and 19th centuries containing three original historical works in a single contemporary half-leather binding. Exceptional Curated Content & Historical Significance • Johan Brelin (1758): First edition of Beskrifning öfver en äfventyrlig resa til och ifrån Ost-Indien, Södra America, och en del af Europa. A seminal work in Scandinavian travel literature, featuring the very first description of Brazil ever published in the Swedish language. • Linguistic Milestone: Pages 48 and 49 display the first printed glossary and numeral system for Chinese (Cantonese) in Sweden, complete with woodcut characters and phonetic transliterations. • Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1772): First Swedish edition of Rese-beskrifning öfwer Levanten, translated by Johan Fredrik Grundel. A highly sought-after extract detailing the governance, culture, and religious customs of the Ottoman Empire. • Berndt von Schinkel (1815): The rare anti-Napoleonic political satire Den sista Propagandismens Begrafnings-Fest. An anonymous historical-political fragment written by a former Bonapartist published in the exact year of Napoleon’s final defeat at Waterloo. Provenance and Condition • Unified Provenance: All three title pages bear the matching early ownership signature of the collector Albert Lindström, proving that this specific compilation has remained together uninterrupted since the 19th century. • Period Binding: Housed in an authentic contemporary half-leather binding featuring gilt-tooled spines and Rococo-style floral ornaments. The gilt spine title RESA remains partially visible. The natural wear to the covers and the ends of the spine attest to its genuine age and historical patina.
