John Frost, Chichester an early Georgian oak longcase clock, the eight-day duration movement having an anchor escapement and striking the hours on a bell, with the twelve-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic outer five-minute numerals to the Dutch arched outer ring and fleur-de-lys half-hour markings, with cast-brass c-scroll spandrels to the four corners and blued-steel hands, the engraved dial centre having a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, with a silvered plaque engraved with the maker's name Jno. Frost, Chichester Fecit, the oak flat-top case having a break-arch top to the trunk door, brass capitals to the hood pillars and all standing on bracket feet, height 183cm. Notes: John Frost is recorded as working in Chichester, Sussex in the mid-to-late 1700s being born in circa 1697, married in 1727 and died in 1768.
