All auctions / Contemporary Art / Jone Hopper - La conversation

Born in 1977, Jone Hopper is a French artist. Towards the end of the 1980s, he learned his craft on the streets through an emerging movement at the time, graffiti. He tags his name on the street, on walls and on trains. Known for his characters and his aerosol signatures, he created the collective TBS (The Brutal Style) with Skepa and a few other committed graffiti writers. We know little about him because the artist remains faithful to the spirit of graffiti and wishes to stay anonymous, believing that it is the artwork that should be highlighted and not the person. Nonexistent on social media, absent from openings, a faceless artist, he remains a true mystery except for a few gallery owners in the confidence. He compares his painting to a Hip Hop track, drawing on Basquiat, Keith Haring, Picasso, Matisse, Andy Warhol or even Bacon, plundering all art movements, from Modern to Contemporary, passing by Classical; he acts like a sampler... samples, cuts, assembles and thus creates new images. - Mixed media: spray paint, pastel and acrylic on canvas - With certificate of authenticity - Canvas mounted on a wooden cradle frame without a caisse américaine
