José Luis Morán (1924) - Regards d’enfance

José Luis Morán (1924) Portrait of Girls A large-format work signed by José Luis Morán and dated 1967. The composition presents a child portrait of three girls, resolved with a loose, luminous brushstroke and great pictorial sensitivity. The scene stands out for the delicate treatment of the faces, the restrained expressiveness of the figures, and the use of a soft palette dominated by blues, whites, pinks, and pastel tones. The three girls appear arranged in a vertical composition, with a lively and enveloping pictorial construction, where the background is integrated through patches of color and fluid brushstrokes that provide atmosphere, movement, and depth. The work presents a modern figurative language, close to mid-20th-century portrait painting, with a free and expressive treatment of the pictorial matter. The artist combines a recognizable representation of the figures with a more gestural and atmospheric background, creating an interesting contrast between the definition of the faces and the looseness of the surrounding environment. Due to its format, visual presence, and decorative quality, it is a work especially suitable for large spaces, collectors of 20th-century Spanish painting, and lovers of intimate figurative portraiture. The stretcher shows termite damage, an aspect that is expressly noted for proper valuation. Due to the artwork’s large size, it will be shipped unframed. Carefully study the photographs, as they are an essential part of the description and allow a precise assessment of the artwork’s conservation state, as well as the details mentioned regarding the stretcher. SHIPPING THAT REQUIRES CUSTOMS WILL INCUR AN ADDITIONAL SURCHARGE.
