- Joseff of Hollywood – Frog on a Lily Pad – 1930s original Design - Parure

Rare demi-parure for museum collection, directly linked to the history of Hollywood cinema and to one of Eugene Joseff's emblematic creations. The Frog on a Lily Pad model was originally created for Rosemary Lane, an actress from the Golden Age of the American studios. This historical provenance of the design has been confirmed by Kristin Joseff, representative of the third generation of the founding family. Joseff of Hollywood was not an ordinary costume jewelry manufacturer. Founded in 1935, the house worked directly with major studios, creating the ensembles destined for the stars and productions that shaped the history of cinema: Gone with the Wind (1939), The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Casablanca (1942). The house notably developed its famous Russian Gold finish, a semi-matte gilding designed to absorb reflections from powerful spotlights. This technique, which became its signature, gives the jewelry its characteristic golden patina, immediately associated with Hollywood classic costumes. This demi-parure reworks a historic design from the Joseff repertoire: frogs sculpted in relief, perched on water-lily leaves with finely modeled veins. The composition blends naturalistic volumes, finely engraved details, and a patinated gold finish. The pairing of the brooch and its matching earrings allows the design to be appreciated in its complete composition. Specifications House: Joseff of Hollywood, United States Model: Frog on a Lily Pad Materials: Gold-toned metal, Russian Gold finish Brooch: 5 × 5 cm Earrings: 2.5 cm Total weight: 18.28 g Origin of the design: Hollywood, late 1930s–1940s A collectible piece at the crossroads of cinema history, Hollywood costume, and American costume jewelry, whose design has a documented origin with an actress from the Golden Age of the studios.
