Joseph Spillmann S.J. - Rund um Afrika - 1897

I am selling a very beautiful old German volume entitled “Rund um Afrika – Ein Buch mit vielen Bildern für die Jugend,” by Joseph Spillmann S.J. Original early edition from 1897, published in Freiburg im Breisgau. A work devoted to Africa, richly illustrated with numerous period engravings. It features especially its large original color folding map of Africa, still present and well preserved given its age. A small tear to report in one corner of the map, visible in the photos. Beautiful old half-red leather binding with decorated covers. Signs of wear and some foxing consistent with a book nearly 130 years old. A fine copy for collectors of old books, cartography, Africa, travel and 19th-century exploration.
