Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures (France) – 1981 FACTORY...

A highly desirable 1981 French pressing of Joy Division's legendary debut album Unknown Pleasures on Factory Records (FACT 10). This continental edition was produced for Virgin France S.A. and pressed in September 1981, representing a significant early variation of this defining post-punk classic. The pressing retains the distinctive textured outer sleeve—a hallmark of the album's iconic design by Peter Saville, based on the pulsar waveform image—and comes complete with the original printed inner sleeve. The rear and labels carry the original Factory-era credits, including publication by Fractured Music and recording at Strawberry Studios, Stockport, making this a particularly desirable early European iteration. ⸻ Sleeve (VG): The original textured sleeve shows visible age and handling wear, including surface whitening and general playwear throughout. Despite this, the sleeve remains structurally sound and the iconic artwork continues to present well. The distinctive texture of the sleeve is fully intact → VG -> VG+ audio Inner Sleeve: Original printed inner sleeve included. Vinyl : Audio (VG+) / Visual (VG): The vinyl has clearly been played and displays numerous visible hairlines and superficial marks across both sides. The wear is predominantly surface-level, with no major deep or feelable scratches. Despite the visual playwear, the record plays well overall and performs noticeably better than it looks → VG ⸻ Details * France pressing * Factory Records / Virgin France S.A. * Pressed September 1981 * FACT 10 * Textured sleeve * Original printed inner sleeve included * Published by Fractured Music * Recorded at Strawberry Studios, Stockport
