Jules Leroy (1856-1921), Kittens Playing in a Basket with Roses

A charming still life depicting a mother cat and three playful kittens nestled among blooming roses and a wicker basket draped with white fabric. Executed with Jules Le Roy's characteristic attention to feline expression and texture, the composition combines meticulous detail with a warm, intimate atmosphere. The artist's refined handling of light, rich palette, and naturalistic rendering of the animals exemplify the delightful genre scenes that made him one of France's best-known painters of cats during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The original giltwood frame complements the painting's Belle Époque charm. Oil on canvas, signed lower right. Artist: Jules Leroy Dimensions: Frame size: 25.75"W x 29.5"H x 2.25"H.
