Grand, scenographic and beautiful oil painting on canvas from a Russian school of the mid- to late-20th century (1989). The painting titled "Rose at the Window" depicts a colorful vase of red, pink, and white roses resting on a windowsill, with a green landscape as the background. The painting is signed at the bottom right by Konstantin Alexandrovich Prokhorov. A similar painting, "Rose Garden," was auctioned in Moscow in 2022 with an estimate between 1,600 and 3,000 euros. Konstantin Alexandrovich Prokhorov (1924−2022), Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1960). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He studied at the M. Samokish Art School in Simferopol with M. Kroshitskiy and G. Shcheglova. Born December 20, 1924 in the village of Karavaevo, Moscow region. From 1940 to 1943 he studied at the Ivanovo Art School with M. S. Pyrina, A. M. Kuznetsov and L. V. Sherwood. In 1943 he was drafted into the army. In 1946 he resumed studies at the M. Samokish Art School in Simferopol, graduating in 1948. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1948. Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1960). Honoured Artist of Russia (1997). From 1948 to 1974 he was enrolled in the Crimean section of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. He worked in the Crimea organization; he was elected president, vice president and board member, as well as a deputy of the Simferopol City Council (1951-1959) and a member of the Central Revision Commission of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Since 1974 he was enrolled in MOOSKH (Moscow Organization of the Union of Artists). He was repeatedly elected to the MOOSKH board. He participated in regional, zonal, republican, national (USSR) and international art exhibitions. His works have been sold at auctions abroad on several occasions. His works have been acquired by the Ministries of Culture of Ukraine and Russia and are housed in art museums in Sevastopol, Moscow, Donetsk, Kerch, Kiev, Voroshilovgrad, Dmitrov and Serpuchov, as well as in private collections in Russia, the USA, Japan, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. On the back there is an artist’s plaque, the title of the painting, and other annotations (see photo).
