Karl Mollin (1880-1962) - Marine méditerranéenne

Karl MOLLIN (1880-1962) - Mediterranean Marine Description of the work: This superb large-format oil on canvas fits in the lineage of mid-20th century post-impressionist landscapes. It offers a luminous panoramic view of a coastal village or lakeside, bordered by calm waters where several traditional sailboats are moored. The composition is notable for its sense of perspective and its handling of material: the artist applies color generously with brush or knife, giving striking relief to the sunlit façades of the houses and to the rock of the mountain in the background. The color palette balances the cool tones of turquoise water and azure sky with the warm notes of red-tiled roofs and ochre sails. A work of great serenity, ideal for brightening a large wall space. • Artist: Karl MOLLIN (1880-1962) listed landscape painter. • Technique: Oil on canvas • Canvas dimensions: 100 x 50 cm (Horizontal panoramic format) • Signature: Signed very neatly at the bottom left: "Mollin". • Condition: Good overall condition. The canvas shows a few signs of wear along the edges (see photos) but presents a satisfying tension on its original frame. The colors are fresh and the impasto texture is preserved. Some tiny superficial traces of age-related use, all normal for a mid-20th century work. Careful and tracked shipping.
