The oil painting by Karl Stuhlmüller (1859–1930) depicts an idyllic rural summer scene from the Dachau countryside, characteristic of peasant life in Upper Bavaria around the turn of the century. At the center is presumably the summer or hay harvest: a vast meadow and field landscape stretches under a bright, summery sky, while peasant work and nature are connected into a harmonious whole. Stuhlmüller places particular emphasis on the atmospheric rendition of the summer light. Warm greens, yellows, and ochre tones characterize the landscape and convey the impression of a sunny, dry harvest day. The vegetation appears lively and lush, while paths, meadows, and fields draw the eye deep into the landscape. Characteristic is the combination of realistic landscape observation and impressionistically evocative light effects. Not only the peasant activity, but above all the atmosphere of the moment is in the foreground. The painting thus conveys a vivid image of the Upper Bavarian cultural landscape and the traditional rural life in the late 19th and early 20th century. Karl Stuhlmüller, who is especially known for his depictions of peasant life and the landscape in the Dachau area, belongs to the circle of the Dachau Painters’ Colony. His works combine precise observation of nature with a free, painterly treatment of light and color. The frame of the picture has the following dimensions: Height: approx. 61.7 cm Width: approx. 81.7 cm Note: The frame visible in the photo is included only out of courtesy and is not an integral part of the work. Any damage to the frame is not a reason for complaints or cancellations of the order. The painting has the following dimensions: Height: approx. 49.0 cm Width: approx. 68.8 cm
