Art Edition - The Quran (1973) - The Quran (1973) - Numbered - Gold-edged in gold - Published by Pierre de Tartas - Mint condition with numbered sheath Exceptional copy of the prestigious art edition of the Quran, published in 1973 by the renowned bibliophile publisher Pierre de Tartas (in collaboration with Rombaldi editions). This collectible volume rests on the historic and widely recognized translation by Arabist Albert Kasimirski. It is distinguished by top‑tier craftsmanship, typical of prestigious large print runs of the 1970s. • Art Print Run Numbered: Certified and authenticated by the print justification under number 3729. Art Binding: Sumptuous publisher’s binding in textured green leather adorned with gold oriental motifs. • Gold-edged: The work features a magnificent upper edge gilded in fine gold (head gilding), radiant. • Pagination & Decorations: 380 pages on large art paper. The text is beautifully airy, embellished with lettrines, banners, and graphic compositions printed in green and white. • Raffy the Persian’s Compositions: Perfectly complete with its final pocket (at the end of vol.) containing all 6 superb plates hors texte by the artist Jean Albert Raffy. These major figurative illustrations, tracing the Prophet’s life, brilliantly blend traditional Persian miniature with Western naive art. • Exceptional Condition / Near Fine: Stock book that has never been opened. The binding, gilding, and interior are absolutely fresh, with no scorching or foxing. • Complete: Sold with its original green marbled, rigid slipcase that protected the volume perfectly over the decades.
