Kayserzinn - Platter - 4649 - Tin - Meat platter - Venison

Large oval meat or serving dish by J.P. Kayser Sohn (Kayserzinn), Krefeld, Germany. In relief mold you can see in the center a leaping, roaring stag, and on both sides of the handles holly branches with berries. The raised rim is divided into four arched segments, and the dish stands on four cast feet. Marked on the underside in an oval cartouche: KAYSERZINN 4649 (partly worn but readable, see photo). Model numbers in this series (4600) date from about 1904–1906. Similar Kayserzinn deer dishes from this period can be found in German museum collections. The dating is based on the model number, not on documentation.
