Haring became famous for his simple yet powerful line drawings, often featuring stylized figures and symbols that convey messages of love, peace, and hope. His works are known for their accessibility and have been exhibited in galleries as well as in public spaces. Haring actively advocated for social justice and HIV/AIDS awareness and founded the Keith Haring Foundation to support art and education projects. He is often associated with other artists of the New York City art scene of the 1980s. Jean-Michel Basquiat, another well-known graffiti artist and activist, shared Haring’s interest in urban art and social themes. Andy Warhol, one of the most important figures of the Pop Art movement, who later supported Haring as a mentor and friend, as well as Julian Schnabel, a painter and filmmaker who was also a major figure in the Neo-Expressionist movement, are often mentioned alongside Haring.
