Antique Victorian English pocket watch - Sterling silver 925 - Key-Wind - London 1899 - 45 mm Authentic English pocket watch from the Victorian era, made in sterling silver and with English silver hallmarks for London. The watch dates from 1899 and is a fine example of traditional English watchmaking at the end of the 19th century. The silver case bears multiple English hallmarks, including the London marks, the silver standard mark and a date letter. The maker's mark "J.W" is also present. The movement is implemented as a traditional English key-wind movement with full-plate construction and copper/brass plates. The movement bears serial number 7527. This number corresponds to the number in the case, which is an interesting detail for the originality of the watch. The classic white enamel dial has black Roman numerals, a railway minute track, and a separate small seconds hand at 6 o’clock. There are cracks and a chip in the lower part of the dial, around the Roman numerals VII and VIII. The watch is currently running. Given the age, however, no guarantee is provided for accuracy, power reserve, or future operation of the mechanical movement. The original patina is consciously preserved and the silver case has not been polished. An interesting collector’s item for enthusiasts of Victorian watches, English pocket watches, and historic English silver. The clear hallmarks also make the watch attractive to collectors interested in English silver marks and historic watchmaking. View the photos carefully. They form an important part of the description and provide a good impression of the condition, hallmarks, dial, case and movement. Carefully packaged and insured shipping."}
