Kiddush cup - .875 (84 Zolotniki) silver - Silver Kiddoesj

A beautiful, fully authentic antique Russian Kiddush cup (Judaica wine goblet) made of solid silver. This cup is an excellent, collectible example of fine silverwork from the late Tsarist era of the Russian Empire (the reign of Tsar Nicholas II). The cup features a slim, elegant profile on a profiled pedestal foot. The body is hand-decorated all around with refined engravings of floral motifs and foliate tendrils, centered around an empty cartouche (monogram shield). The upper rim bears a distinctive zigzag- and dotted engraving. Fully stamped with sharp marks: Both at the outer rim of the cup and on the inside of the foot lie two very clear and legible hallmarks: Master mark "ИЕЗ": The official factory mark of the renowned Jewish silversmith Israel Eseevich Zakhoder (Izrail Eseevich Zakhoder), known for high-quality Judaica silver produced in Kiev. Assay mark 84 with Kokoshnik: The Russian silver standard for 84 zolotniks (corresponding to 875/1000 fine silver). The female head with the traditional headdress (Kokoshnik) looks to the left, which dates this mark exactly to the period 1899–1908. Office mark "Δ" (Delta): Immediately next to the female head is the Greek letter delta, the specific guarantee mark for the Kiev assay office. Thanks to the combination of the Zakhoder workshop’s master marks and the right-facing Kokoshnik mark, this object can be dated very precisely to the early years of this transitional period (circa 1908). Specifications Object: Kiddush cup / wine goblet (Judaica) Material: Solid silver (84 zolotnik / 875/1000) Silversmith: Israel Eseevich Zakhoder (ИЕЗ) Origin: Kiev, Russian Empire Period: Circa 1908–1917 Condition: In excellent antique condition with a beautiful authentic patina and minimal age-related signs for its age. No dents or restorations. The engravings and stamps remain exceptionally sharp.
