Antique Russian Silver Vodka Cup (Stopka) – Hand-engraved – 84 Zolotniki – Tsarist Era Category: Antique / Silverware / European Silverware / Russian Silver Description A beautiful, authentic antique Russian silver vodka cup (traditionally known as a stopka) from the Imperial Tsarist Era. This elegant collector’s piece is handmade and decorated with refined, finely crafted floral engravings and geometric borders. At the lip edge, the cup bears an official Russian hallmark: the oval stamp bearing the number 84, the imperial standard representing a silver content of 84 zolotniki (equivalent to 875/1000 silver) 1908-1927. Small round assay mark on the bottom: the official Kokoshnik mark in a round shield with the right-facing woman’s head. (poorly legible) This type of mark was used exclusively between 1908 and 1917/1926, date-stamping the cup to the late Tsarist period. The interior shows the authentic, characteristic warm glow of the original (fire) gilding. This gold layer was applied at the time to protect the silver from the effects of strong alcoholic beverages. A beautiful and historic piece of Russian craftsmanship, perfect for collectors of imperial silverware! Details & Specifications: Country of origin: Russian Empire (Tsarist) Period: 19th century (prior to 1899) Material: .875 Silver (84 Zolotniki) Finish: Hand-engraved with partially (fire) gilded interior. Hallmarks: Assayed with the imperial '84' silver hallmark on the rim and bottom. Condition: Good antique condition with pleasing aging patina.
