Kirsty Wain (XX) - Cork Oak Tree in Andalusia - No Reserve

A vibrant original watercolour study by contemporary artist Kirsty Wain, capturing the rugged, expressive character of the Andalusian countryside. The composition centers on the distinctive, gnarled form of a mature cork oak tree, rendered with fluid, confident brushstrokes that emphasize its twisted trunk and sprawling canopy. Wain utilizes a luminous palette of earthy purples, deep greens, and warm terracotta tones to convey the sun-drenched atmosphere of southern Spain, contrasted against rolling hills, native flora, and distant mountain peaks. The artist’s deliberate watercolour technique builds rich structural form and tone without sacrificing the transparency and immediacy of the medium. Deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape, her work offers an expressive, emotive interpretation of the surrounding environment. Drawing strong inspiration from Post-Impressionism and the bold colour theory of Fauvism, Wain uses vibrant hues, textured application, and fluid line work to capture the intrinsic energy, spirit, and light of a location. Her paintings, frequently focused on ancient olive groves, hillside pines, and sweeping terrains—seek to translate fleeting personal moments and deep emotional ties to place directly onto the canvas. Wain’s distinct visual language continues to gain international visibility, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world. ´ I love colour. I love nature. I love art. Together, they are my language. ´ K Wain 2025 Artist Profile & Education Background: British contemporary landscape painter based in Spain, combining her artistic practice with a long-standing career in art education.
