Kirsty Wain (XX) - Mediterranean Coastal Walk, Andalucia (2023) - No Reserve

Artist: Kirsty Wain Title: Mediterranean Coastal Walk, Andalusia (2023) Year: 2023 Medium: Watercolour on paper Dimensions: 38.5 x 28.5 cm Capturing the tranquil rhythm of the Andalusian coastline, Mediterranean Coastal Walk, Andalusia is an expressive original watercolour by artist Kirsty Wain. Painted in 2023, this piece depicts the winding coastal footway snaking along the cliffs and beach near Manilva and Sotogrande, offering breathtaking vistas over the Mediterranean Sea. Wain uses vibrant expressionist washes paired with graphic patternwork to bring the landscape to life. A striking pink-hued sky glows over rhythmic ocean ripples, contrasting beautifully with the golden path, rich deep greens of the coastal scrub, and earthy sandstone rock formations. The dynamic composition invites the viewer on a scenic stroll through one of Southern Spain’s most picturesque coastal environments. Deeply connected to the Mediterranean landscape, her work offers an expressive, emotive interpretation of the surrounding environment. Drawing strong inspiration from Post-Impressionism and the bold colour theory of Fauvism, Wain uses vibrant hues, textured application, and fluid line work to capture the intrinsic energy, spirit, and light of a location. Her paintings, frequently focused on ancient olive groves, hillside pines, and sweeping terrains—seek to translate fleeting personal moments and deep emotional ties to place directly onto the canvas. Wain’s distinct visual language continues to gain international visibility, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world. ´ I love colour. I love nature. I love art. Together, they are my language. ´ K Wain 2025 Artist Profile & Education Background: British contemporary landscape painter based in Spain, combining her artistic practice with a long-standing career in art education.
