KLENCK, Paul. - Lot 305

KLENCK, Paul. Actualités. No. 13. Paris, on sale at Grognet, printer, 16 rue des Écoles; distributed by Madre, bookseller, rue du Croissant, [1870–1871]. A colored satirical lithograph depicting Napoleon III as a convict, wearing a cap bearing the date 1852, with his legs shackled, flanked by two figures in uniform. On the right, a signpost reads “Route de Cayenne.” The lengthy caption ironically recalls the events of 1852, the “numerous crimes in Corsica,” “Strasbourg,” “Boulogne,” “Montmartre,” and finally Sedan. Signed P. Klenck. A few foxing spots and slight creases; in good overall condition.
