THE WORK “Red Jordan Retro High” is an intense, energetic piece with a strong visual impact, renewing the dialogue between two pop culture icons: the building block, universal symbol of play and creativity, and the Air Jordan 1, the sneaker that in the mid-1980s forever changed the relationship between sport, fashion, and collecting. Conceived as a companion piece to “Gold Jordan 1 Retro High,” it presents a version with a more decisive and passionate character. At the center of the composition stands a monumental glass brick, transparent, with its characteristic protruding studs, which safeguards like a precious relic a Jordan 1 High entirely red, in a refined monochromatic effect. The shoe, suspended diagonally inside the case, shows every detail of its legendary silhouette: the Wings logo on the collar, the Nike Air tag on the tongue, the shiny red Swoosh, the visible stitching, and the toe perforations. The glass studs, like magnifying lenses, distort and enlarge the surface of the upper, creating a captivating play of refractions. The brick rests on a dark marble surface veined with copper, reflecting its light, while in the background, dark and velvety in plum tones, glimpses the blurred lights of an elegant nocturnal setting. The red, inseparably linked to the history of this sneaker and the legend of its champion, flares against the glass’s transparency, turning the case into a small shrine devoted to a timeless icon. THE ARTIST’S WORDS “With ‘Red Jordan Retro High’ I wanted to bring the Jordan 1 back to its roots. If the Gold version turned it into a precious trophy, almost unattainable, this one returns it to its most authentic spirit: the red of the parquet, the energy, the sporting passion. It’s the color that best tells the story of this shoe and the myth that made it famous. Encasing it in a glass brick means transforming it into a relic, protecting it as one protects a museum piece, and at the same time reminding that every collection begins with a game. I chose a fully monochromatic version because I wanted the shape of the shoe to speak for itself, without distractions, in one vibrant tone. The biggest challenge was preserving the depth of the red through the glass refractions, without the color flattening or losing its richness. I selected EMA Fine Art Paper because its completely matte finish yields rich reds and deep blacks without any artificial reflections. The two versions can live solo or converse side by side, like two pieces from the same collection. I hope this tableau brings the energy of sneaker culture into spaces, a touch of sophisticated irony, and the timeless charm of objects that have made history.” ARTIST INFORMATION Kleury.art asserts its prestigious elite production on EMA archival paper, confirming an extraordinary visual culture and unequaled stylistic mastery. Moving with absolute agility from the chromatic splendor of sport to the universe of pop icons and rock on canvas, to the irony of Toy Surrealism, to classical Baroque reinterpretation and the captivating Eastern woodblock-inspired boards, the artist confirms—through this line of technical patents—as one of the most versatile, complete, and internationally collected digital signatures.
