KOETZLE (Michael) & SCHEID (Uwe). — The Little Women of Paris. Erotic Photographs from Around 1920. Cologne, Taschen, [1996]. In-4, illustrated hardcover by the publisher. An album devoted to Parisian erotic photography from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, bringing together a substantial collection of anonymous or attributed photographs, reproduced in black-and-white and sepia. Text by Michael Koetzle; photographs drawn primarily from the collection of Uwe Scheid. The book situates these images within the history of nude photography and the clandestine or semi-clandestine distribution of erotic photography in Paris, then one of its major centers of production. Numerous photographic reproductions, both full-page and within the text. The introduction discusses, among others, Brassaï, Henry Miller, Bruno Braquehais, and Robert Doisneau. ISBN 3-8228-8360-3. A good copy. The hardcover is intact, with a few slight signs of wear visible on the covers.
