Kuba volk - Cup - Wood - With hand motif

This concerns an authentic and high-quality vintage palm wine cup (mbwoong ityeel), handmade by the Kuba people from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The cup stands out for its rarer and highly sought-after motif of a human hand on the side, combined with the characteristic geometric patterns (nshamatye). The object is carved from a single piece of dark hardwood. On the interior and the underside of the base, the maker's traditional tool marks are still very clearly and authentically visible. The object is in good vintage condition with a beautiful, warm patina and light, natural signs of aging (fine shrinkage cracks on the underside) that suit the age.
