Laco - Small Second - No reserve price - Men - 1950-1959

Laco Small Seconds – Vintage German Mechanical Watch – Black Dial – Gold Plated Case – 1950-1959 A refined vintage Laco Small Seconds from the 1950s, featuring an elegant black dial, classical Roman numeral accents and a beautifully proportioned subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock. The combination of the deep black dial, slender gold-tone hands and markers, domed acrylic crystal and gold-plated case creates a sophisticated mid-century appearance. The unusual sculpted lugs add further character and give the watch a distinctive silhouette. The small seconds display at 6 o’clock is particularly characteristic of traditional mechanical watches of this period and provides an attractive visual balance to the minimalist dial. Technical Details Brand: Laco Style: Small Seconds Type: Vintage mechanical wristwatch Movement: Mechanical, manual winding Case material: Gold plated Case diameter: Approx. 34 mm, excluding crown Glass: Acrylic crystal Dial: Black Hour markers: Gold-tone Roman numerals and applied square indexes Hands: Gold-tone Small seconds: Subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock Functions: Hours, minutes, small seconds Case back: Gold-tone textured case back Strap: Generic brown leather strap Strap length: Approx. 22–23 cm Water resistance: Not tested for water resistance Box: Generic box included Condition: Grade B Condition Report This Laco Small Seconds is in Grade B condition, showing visible signs of age and use consistent with a vintage mechanical watch from the 1950s. The gold-plated case shows scratches, surface marks and areas of plating wear, particularly around the edges, bezel and sculpted lugs. The crown also shows age-related wear. The black dial remains visually attractive, with natural signs of ageing visible under close inspection. The gold-tone Roman numerals, hour markers and hands retain a pleasing contrast against the dark background. The acrylic crystal shows scratches and signs of normal use. The case back displays a fine textured finish and period markings. It also shows significant wear and loss of the gold-tone surface along the edge, with visible oxidation/discoloration in the affected area, clearly shown in the photographs. The watch is fitted with a generic brown leather strap measuring approximately 22–23 cm. Water resistance has not been tested and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item. Story & Heritage Laco is one of the historic names of German watchmaking. Founded in Pforzheim in 1925, the company became known for its mechanical watches and later achieved particular recognition for its aviation watches. Beyond its famous pilot watches, Laco also produced elegant civilian wristwatches that reflected the changing design language of mid-century Europe. This example belongs to that more refined side of the brand's history. Its design is particularly evocative of the 1950s: a restrained black dial, delicate gold-tone detailing, strongly curved lugs and a traditional small-seconds display at 6 o’clock. Before central seconds became dominant, subsidiary seconds were an important feature of classical mechanical wristwatches and remain highly associated with traditional watchmaking aesthetics. The domed crystal and minimalist dial further enhance its unmistakable vintage character. A charming vintage Laco for collectors who appreciate traditional German mechanical watchmaking, black dials and elegant small-seconds configurations. Internal Reference Number - ITM 942
