Ladonia, Texas. $100 1902 Date Back. Fr. 692. First NB. Charter #4311.

Ladonia, Texas. $100 1902 Date Back. Fr. 692. First NB. Charter #4311. PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15. A handsome rarity from Fannin County that was issued after 1920. This well-circulated Series of 1902 $100 Date Back issued by the First National Bank of Ladonia (Charter# 4311) offers much for the consideration of bidders. Here individual design elements are clear and crisp and outshine the grade assigned by PCGS Banknote while lifelike detail is conveyed by the portrait of John J. Knox Jr. (1828-1892) who served as Comptroller of Currency between 1872 and 1884. The signatures of Cashier Daniel W. Sweeney Jr. and President Albert Earle Sweeney who served in their respective positions from 1920 to 1929 offer a bold impression often lost to factors such as circulation and humidity can be seen in the appropriate panels. Held together with the fact that this lot offers bidders the chance to claim a fine counterpoint to the Series of 1902 $100 Date Back that was issued before 1920 which sold recently in our Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Lot 21247) makes this note all the more desirable for the specialist. Estimate: $1,250 - $1,750. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
