Large and Heavy Plesiosaur Vertebra Section - Fossil fragment - Plesiosauria sp

Large and Heavy Plesiosaur Vertebra Section – Cretaceous – Madagascar An impressive, large and exceptionally substantial fossil section of a plesiosaur vertebra from the Cretaceous deposits of Madagascar, distinguished by its massive structure, considerable weight, and remarkable natural preservation. The specimen retains a thick, robust vertebral body with broad fossilized surfaces and an irregular, heavily textured structure. Particularly fascinating are the deep natural cavities and exposed internal bone architecture, revealing a complex network of porous formations and mineralized structures developed during fossilization. Its surface displays warm shades of ochre, rusty orange, reddish brown, and sandy beige, with lighter mineral deposits highlighting the ancient bone texture. Natural fractures, weathered edges, and areas of exposed internal structure contribute to its authentic prehistoric appearance. The impressive thickness and substantial mass of this fossil give it a particularly strong presence, making it an attractive example of the powerful skeletal anatomy of these ancient marine reptiles. Plesiosaurs inhabited the oceans during the Mesozoic Era and were remarkable marine predators, characterized by highly specialized skeletons adapted to life in the water. A substantial and visually striking vertebral fossil, particularly appealing to collectors of prehistoric marine reptiles, vertebrate paleontology, and authentic natural history specimens.
