Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Large Antique Persian Heriz Serapi Rug Size: 18 ft 1 in x 12 ft 3 in (5.51 m x 3.73 m) Provenance: Property of California Collector An impressive large-format Serapi featuring a dramatic navy-and-red medallion set against a vibrant red field, surrounded by spacious ivory corner elements and boldly drawn angular vines. Soft blue, green, salmon, and cream accents enliven the composition. Serapi carpets of approximately 18 by 12 feet are increasingly difficult to find, particularly with such strong proportions and classical coloration. The combination of scale, powerful drawing and architectural presence makes this one of the principal decorative carpets in the sale. Condition Request Condition Report A handsome and highly decorative Heriz Serapi carpet of impressive proportions. Both ends have been reduced by approximately 2–3 cm and subsequently secured. The side borders are not original, but are presently in good order. The carpet presents very well overall. There are scattered areas of lower pile, together with localized areas of light repiling. Some sections retain a fuller pile, while others show more wear consistent with age and use. The border also exhibits several restored and repiled areas, carried out to improve the overall appearance and stability of the carpet. Despite these restorations and variations in pile height, the carpet remains visually strong, well balanced, and suitable for immediate use.
