LARGE BRONZE AGE BRONZE BELL WITH A RAM

Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A cast bronze bell with a conical upper section and rounded lower body divided by a raised moulding, with a vertical slit for the internal rattle. A large suspension ring surmounts the bell, supporting a standing ram with an elongated body and slender legs. Its lowered head has a long muzzle, recessed eyes and prominent curled horns. A ring suspended from the mouth retains a further loose ring. Size: 190mm x 120mm; Weight: 760g Provenance: From a private British collection; ex I.H. collection, assembled since the 1970s.
